About

Naturopathic Physician

Carey Kunz, ND

I am a Naturopathic Physician living and practicing in the Seattle, Washington area. I was born in Indianapolis, IN, and grew up on an organic dairy farm, where my passion for health and preventative medicine started. I graduated from DePauw University and received my doctorate in naturopathic medicine from a 4-year, accredited naturopathic medical program at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, OR.

I enjoy working with a wide range of patients who are motivated to take their health into their own hands through a functional medicine approach to their treatment plan. My areas of expertise and interest include cardiovascular disease, metabolic conditions, gastrointestinal health, and autoimmune conditions.

In addition to running my own functional medicine practice in Seattle, I am the Director of Medical Education at Functional Medicine Practitioner (FMP) Essentials. In this role, I design and oversee the development of advanced educational curricula for functional medicine practitioners. Previously, I worked as a Clinical Content Developer at the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), a global leader in functional medicine education. At IFM, I analyzed research, created educational content, and taught courses for their certification program. These roles have kept me at the forefront of the latest research and advancements in functional medicine and allowed me to collaborate with some of the top practitioners in the field.

I also had the privilege of mentoring under Arti Chandra, MD, long time family physician and leading functional medicine practitioner in Seattle.

In my free time, I enjoy running, cooking, traveling, and exploring the Pacific Northwest.
