Naturopathic Physician
Carey Kunz, ND, IFMCP
I am a naturopathic physician and certified functional medicine practitioner living and practicing in the Seattle, Washington area. I was born in Indianapolis, IN, and grew up on an organic dairy farm, where my passion for health and preventative medicine started. I graduated from DePauw University and received my doctorate in naturopathic medicine from a 4-year, accredited naturopathic medical program at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, OR.
I take pride in working collaboratively with my patients, taking the time to listen and make them feel heard, which is something my patients often express appreciation for. I believe in empowering my patients to take control of their health through a functional medicine approach, and I work closely with them to create personalized treatment plans. I also recognize that medicine is constantly evolving, and I stay current with the latest research and advancements to offer the most effective care.
My areas of expertise and interest include cardiovascular disease, metabolic conditions, gastrointestinal health, and autoimmune conditions.
In addition to running my own functional medicine practice in Seattle, I am the Director of Medical Education at Functional Medicine Practitioner (FMP) Essentials. In this role, I lead the development of advanced functional medicine courses and oversee the creation of educational programs. I ensure that practitioners have access to cutting-edge research, clinical tools, and integrative health strategies that enhance their clinical skills. Before joining FMP Essentials, I spent over five years at the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), a global leader in functional medicine education. At IFM, I analyzed research, created educational content, and taught courses for their certification program. These roles have kept me at the forefront of the latest research and advancements in functional medicine and allowed me to collaborate with some of the top practitioners in the field.
I also had the privilege of mentoring under Arti Chandra, MD, long time family physician and leading functional medicine practitioner in Seattle.
In my free time, I enjoy running, cooking, traveling, and exploring the Pacific Northwest.
